Unrefined African Shea Butter originates from the nuts of the shea tree, primarily found in West Africa’s savannah regions. We source our Shea Butter from Ghana. The extraction process involves a long standing traditional method carried out by local African women.
First, the nuts are collected and cracked open to reveal the kernels. These kernels are then roasted, pounded, and ground into a thick paste. The paste is later boiled and stirred to separate the fatty substance, which solidifies into shea butter as it cools. This unrefined form preserves the natural richness, vitamins, and nutrients, ensuring it retains its nourishing and moisturizing properties, making it an ideal skincare ingredient. The resulting butter boasts its natural ivory or yellow color and a distinctive nutty aroma.
